Eid al-Adha Qurbani Distribution
June 17, 2024 | Tagkawayan & Iligan City
Celebrating the Spirit of Sacrifice and Sharing
During Eid al-Adha, Jumeirah Estates sponsored qurbani (animal sacrifice) and distributed fresh halal meat to underprivileged families in both Tagkawayan, Quezon Province and Iligan City, Lanao del Norte.
Eid al-Adha, the "Festival of Sacrifice," commemorates Prophet Ibrahim's (Abraham's) willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God. Qurbani — the act of animal sacrifice during this celebration — is one of the most important traditions in Islam. It is an act of devotion, and the meat is traditionally shared among family, friends, and those in need.
The Distribution
Jumeirah Estates sponsored the qurbani of multiple goats and cattle, performing the sacrifice in full accordance with Islamic rites under the supervision of local religious authorities. The meat was then carefully processed, packaged, and distributed to underprivileged families in both project areas.
In Tagkawayan, distribution was coordinated with local mosques and barangay officials to ensure that the meat reached families who would benefit the most. A similar effort was organized in Iligan City, where the newly announced Jumeirah Heights development area provided a natural focal point for community engagement.
Beyond the Meat
The qurbani distribution was accompanied by a community Eid prayer and celebration, where families gathered for prayers, shared meals, and fellowship. Children received small gifts and treats, making the day especially festive for younger community members.
For many families, particularly those with limited means, the qurbani distribution was the only opportunity to enjoy fresh meat during the Eid celebration. The gratitude expressed by recipients reinforced Jumeirah Estates' commitment to being a socially responsible company that walks the talk.
