Eco-Stewardship Tree Planting

Caring for the Earth as an Act of Worship

Hundreds of trees were planted at the Jumeirah Ville site as part of our environmental stewardship program — reflecting the Islamic principle that caring for the environment is an act of ibadah (worship).

In Islam, the concept of khilafah (stewardship) teaches that humans are caretakers of the earth. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "If the Hour is about to be established and one of you holds a palm shoot, let him plant it." This hadith serves as the guiding principle behind Jumeirah Estates' environmental programs.

The Activity

The tree planting initiative brought together Jumeirah Estates employees, local community members, students from nearby schools, and members of environmental groups. Over 300 seedlings of native and fruit-bearing trees were planted across the Jumeirah Ville site, including narra, molave, mango, and coconut trees.

The trees were strategically placed along buffer zones, parks, and open spaces that are part of the site development plan. This ensures that as the community grows, residents will be surrounded by mature, thriving vegetation that provides shade, clean air, and a connection to nature.

Environmental Commitment

This tree planting event is the first of what Jumeirah Estates plans to make an annual tradition across all its developments. The company has committed to maintaining a 30% green space ratio in all projects — exceeding the minimum requirements set by HLURB and local zoning regulations.

Each participant received a seedling to take home and plant in their own yard, extending the impact of the initiative beyond the project site and into the broader community.
